Privacy Policy

Summary

Vedari is a contemplative Vedic life-journey companion built for adults. We collect the minimum needed to compute your Vedic chart and personalize your guidance. We never sell your personal information, never share it with advertisers, and never train public AI models on your writing. You can request full deletion of your account and data at any time.

1. Who we are

Vedari ("we", "us", "our") is operated by the Vedari team. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, contact us at care@trueoutlook.in.

2. Data we collect

We collect only the following categories of data:

  • Account information — your name, email address, and profile photo from Google Sign-In. We do not store your Google password.
  • Birth details — your date, time, and place of birth. Used solely to compute your Vedic chart. Stored encrypted at rest.
  • Onboarding choices — the priorities and deep-dive answers you select (e.g., career growth, mental health).
  • Life Letter and Journal entries — text you choose to write within the app, used to personalize the guidance you see. You may mark any entry as private to exclude it from personalization, or delete it at any time.
  • Daily activity — which practices you mark complete, mission progress, and other in-app interactions used to maintain your streak and tailor what you see next.
  • Diagnostic data — minimal crash logs and performance signals that help us keep the app reliable. These do not contain Journal or Life Letter content.
  • Device information — when you visit the web app, we receive standard request data (IP address, user-agent, timestamp) which is used for security and rate limiting. We do not use this for advertising.

3. Data we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect your contacts, photos, files, microphone, camera, calendar, location (other than what you type as a city), or browser history.
  • We do not use cookies or SDKs for advertising or cross-site tracking.
  • We do not collect data from anyone under 18 (see Section 9 — Children).

4. Why we use your data

  • To compute your Vedic chart (Mahadasha / Antardasha periods, Nakshatra, Moon sign, etc.) accurately.
  • To personalize the daily, weekly, and chapter-level guidance you see — using your priorities, deep-dive answers, Life Letter, and chart context.
  • To maintain your account, sessions, and subscription status.
  • To send essential service emails (e.g., account deletion confirmation). We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.
  • To prevent abuse, secure the service, and comply with applicable law.

5. How your data is shared with third parties

Vedari uses the following sub-processors. Each receives only the data needed for its specific function:

  • Google (Sign-In) — receives your authentication request only. We receive your name, email, and profile photo via Google's OAuth flow. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Anthropic (Claude AI) — when guidance is generated, we send the relevant chart context and applicable Life Letter excerpts to Anthropic's Claude model. Anthropic does not retain this content for model training, per its API enterprise terms.
  • Prokerala API — we send your date, time, place, and coordinates of birth to Prokerala solely to compute your Vedic chart. Prokerala does not retain this for any purpose other than the computation.
  • Open-Meteo — used to geocode the city you typed at sign-up into latitude/longitude. No account data is sent.
  • Cloud hosting (Emergent Platform / MongoDB Atlas) — our database and servers. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to any third party. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your Journal or Life Letter to train any AI model.

6. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you request deletion, we permanently delete your account, profile, chart, journal entries, and Life Letter within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated analytics (e.g., "how many users completed onboarding") may be retained indefinitely as they cannot be linked back to you.

7. Your rights

Regardless of where you live, you have the following rights over your data:

  • Access — see what we hold about you.
  • Correction — update incorrect information (you can edit most data directly in Menu → Edit my details).
  • Deletion — request permanent deletion of your account and all data.
  • Export — receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — stop personalization at any time by marking journal entries private or clearing your Life Letter.

Indian users have these rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. EEA/UK users have them under GDPR. California residents have them under CCPA/CPRA.

8. How to delete your account

Three ways:

  • In-app (fastest, instant): Menu → Delete my account.
  • From the web (no login required): visit our account-deletion form at https://vedari.life/account-deletion.
  • By email: write to care@trueoutlook.in from the email address on your account. We action all deletion requests within 30 days and send confirmation when complete.

9. Children

Vedari is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact care@trueoutlook.in and we will delete it promptly.

10. International data transfers

Vedari is operated from India. Some of our sub-processors (Anthropic, Google) are based in the United States. By using Vedari, you understand that your data may be processed in jurisdictions outside your country of residence. We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest.

11. Security

We use TLS encryption for all data in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest for sensitive fields (birth details, Life Letter), session-based authentication, and rate limiting to prevent abuse. No system is perfectly secure — if you become aware of a vulnerability, please write to care@trueoutlook.in.

12. Changes to this policy

We will update this Privacy Policy when our practices change. For meaningful changes, we will notify you in-app and update the "Effective" date at the top. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

13. Google Play Data Safety disclosure

For users installing Vedari from the Google Play Store, the following maps our practices to the Play Data Safety taxonomy:

  • Personal info (name, email) — Collected, linked to identity, used for app functionality and account management. Not shared with third parties for their own purposes.
  • Photos (profile photo from Google) — Collected, linked to identity, used for app functionality. Not shared.
  • App activity (in-app actions, interactions) — Collected, linked to identity, used for app functionality and personalization. Not shared.
  • App info and performance (crash logs, diagnostics) — Collected, not linked to identity, used for analytics and app stability. Not shared.
  • Other data (birth details, journal text) — Collected, linked to identity, used for app functionality. Sent to Anthropic Claude only at moment of personalization; not retained by Anthropic for training.

Data is encrypted in transit. Users can request data deletion at any time. Vedari follows the Google Play Families Policy and is not directed at children.

14. Apple App Store privacy disclosure

For users installing Vedari via the Apple App Store, the following maps to Apple's App Privacy categories:

  • Data Used to Track You — None. Vedari does not track users across apps or websites owned by other companies.
  • Data Linked to You — Contact Info (name, email), User Content (Journal, Life Letter), Identifiers (user ID), Usage Data (app interactions), Diagnostics, Other (birth details).
  • Data Not Linked to You — Crash logs, performance metrics.
